As part of its ongoing program of quality assurance in Education, and in order to set future directions in both Education and Research, the College of Arts and Social Sciences is conducting a series of reviews of academic programs and Schools within the College. 

Reviews of Schools also consider internal organisation, governance, resources, staffing, staff development, linkages with other areas of the University and outreach to the broader community.

The University has identified in its Strategic Plan, ANU by 2020, the need for effective organisational structures and clear policies and procedures to underpin their activities. As such, it intends to review its administration structures and operations to ensure they are fit for their purpose. A review of the College of Arts and Social Sciences administration took place in October 2012. The following self-evaluation report and addendum were prepared in support of this review:
