It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences’ web site.
Our college is a community of scholars who generate ideas, challenge stereotypes and accepted wisdom, push the boundaries of intellectual thought, and produce new empirical findings that inform policy and practice debates across Australia. Our college is distinctive for its multidisciplinary research and teaching culture, along with a program of conferences, exhibitions and seminars throughout the year.
Our social scientists, humanities scholars and creative artists are regarded as being among the world’s best. We are committed to excellence in research-led teaching and supervision, ensuring that you are exposed to the latest debates and knowledge in the discipline. Our class sizes are smaller than in other leading Australian universities, and we guarantee to provide accommodation on campus for all first year students. For graduate students we provide a high level of infrastructure support including financial support for fieldwork, conference travel, and access to an office.
ANU is a wonderful, vibrant university located in the heart of the nation’s capital. The people, the students, and the physical amenities provide for a research- and teaching-intensive university that’s unique in Australia. I invite you to come and discover it for yourself.
