For Ali and the Motherland: Conflict, development and sectarian imaginaries in Eastern Tajikistan

Lecture

The lecture will focus on ethnic differences and the Sunni-Shia cleavage in Tajikistan. In particular, it will examine how the withdrawal of NATO troops from Afghanistan will affect these factors of conflict in the strategically important Badakhshan region.
