The Australian Survey of Social Attitudes title

The Australian Survey of Social Attitudes (AuSSA) is a biennial survey which began in 2003. AuSSA was managed by the Australian Demographic and Social Research Institute (now the School of Demography) at the Australian National University until 2012. It is now managed by the Australian Consortium for Social and Political Research Incorporated (ACSPRI). Developed with the co-operation of social scientists around Australia, AUSSA provides authoritative data on the social attitudes and behaviour of Australians.

Already in the 1980s, Menken (1985) posed a question which is now more relevant than ever before: “Age and Fertility: how late can you wait?”. This issue has become prominent for individuals as well as for countries, as European societies have witnessed uninterrupted increase in the age at childbirth for more than four decades. We present here first investigations of late fertility in France and Austria at both the individual and population level.
