$80 million upgrade for School of Art and Design title

The Australian National University (ANU) will create an exciting new space for 21st century art and design, with a multimillion dollar upgrade of the School of Art and Design.

The $80+ million project will revolutionise the way the two disciplines are delivered at ANU as well as spaces for students, staff and artists.

The project includes the refurbishment of the historic and heritage-listed School of Art and Design building, as well as the construction of a new two-storey building next to the city.

Old dog given new life thanks to ANU artist title

One of Australia's most iconic public artworks is being given a new lease on life thanks to an artist from the ANU School of Art and Design.

Sculptor Nick Stranks was tasked with repairing the Dog on the Tuckerbox statue, after it was vandalised last month.

It's a job that's thrown up some unique challenges.

"The work has a significant history. It's over 80-years-old and it's had a number of lives in that time," Mr Stranks said.
