The importance of being Paul Virilio title

James Der Derian, is probably the most expert person in Australia on the subject of the great contemporary French thinker Paul Virilio. He edited the first anthology of Virilio’s writing to appear in English translation. Recently he was appointed Director of the Centre of International Security Studies and Michael Hinze Chair at the University of Sydney.

CASS Semester 2 2025 O-Week from 14 July - 18 July title

O-week is a must-attend event, with a variety of activities designed to set you up for success in the early stages of your program and give you a glimpse into university life. The 2025 Semester 2 O-week program begins Monday, 10 February 2025.

The CASS Student Office team will be holding an online Zoom session during the O-Week that will cover all you need to know to get ready for study at ANU.

We encourage all new students to attend one of this session.

There will be ample opportunity to ask questions, and we can provide one to one advice if needed.

Why do we keep remaking Pride and Prejudice? title

It is a truth universally acknowledged that adaptations of classic novels can often fall short of the original text. But Jane Austen’s 1813 novel Pride and Prejudice may be the exception. (Well, fingers crossed.)

It’s been more than 200 years since its publication and the novel has taken on a life of its own thanks to its satirical exploration of reputation, societal expectations, economic power and, of course, its use of the enemies-to-lovers trope.

Breaking barriers in top gear title

When Katelyn Czubara gripped the wheel of the ANU Formula Sport Team’s custom-built car, her thoughts weren’t just on speed or engineering – it was about re-engaging in a lifelong passion and defying the quiet pressure that comes with being the first female driver in the team’s history.

Though no stranger to the racetrack, Katelyn’s previous experience was in karting – a discipline she excelled at. She even represented Australia in Italy in 2019 as part of a silver-medal winning, all-female team.

Professor Ian McAllister Receives Prestigious International Award for Public Opinion Research title

The School of Politics and International Relations (SPIR) is proud to share that Professor Ian McAllister has been awarded the 2025 Helen Dinerman Award by the World Association for Public Opinion Research (WAPOR).
