The work of researchers at the School of Art and Design’s Centre for Art History and Art Theory engages with key issues relevant to the role of creative practice in historical and contemporary contexts. Our staff are active participants in academic and professional networks across Australia, Asia, Europe and North America, while maintaining vital connections with national cultural institutions in Canberra. ANU is uniquely situated in easy proximity to the National Gallery of Australia, the National Museum of Australia, the National Portrait Gallery, the National Library and the Australian War Memorial. Many of the University's graduates work in these institutions. Our ongoing relationships and networks may enable PhD students to participate in the National Industry PhD Program initiated by the Australian Government’s Department of Education.
