Shawn O'Donnell - ANU Master of Archaeological Science's Inaugural Graduate

Congratulations to Shawn O`Donnell, the first graduate of the new ANU degree, Master of Archaeological Science. Shawn will be awarded the new degree at the ANU Graduations in July 2010.
Shawn was the first international student to enter the program (in 2009), completing the degree full-time (12 months) with personal research projects in Geographic Information Systems, Palaeobotany and Archaeobotany. Shawn leads the roll-out of graduates from the inaugural M. Arch Science group who were flown to the Pilbara in 2009 for research-led field training in coastal geoarchaeology and Heritage management, generously supported by logistics and funding from BHP Billiton Iron Ore (BHP BIO) arranged through HEH Pty Ltd.
Shawn is currently working in the Earth System Science Laboratories of the University of California (Irvine) as part of the Middle Mekong Archaeological Project team, while he awaits the results of scholarship applications to study for a PhD in archaeobotany/palaeoecology at various Universities worldwide, including the ANU, the University of Cambridge, and UCL. He maintains a core interest and great enthusiasm for researching the origins of agriculture and the Holocene evolution of human land-management systems.
Congratulations and best wishes for your career Shawn.
