Professor Matthew Gray awarded joint winner of the FISS Best Paper Prize

The College of Arts and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that Professor Matthew C Gray has been awarded the best paper prize (joint winner) for his paper 'The Economic Consequences of Divorce and Implications for the Australian Social Protection System', which he presented in Sweden at the Foundation conference for International Studies in Social Security. Professor Gray was awarded this honour alongside of David de Vaus, Lixia Qu and David Stanton.
The 2012 FISS Best Paper Prize will be shared by the following two papers:
1. David de Vaus, Mathew Gray, Lixia Qu and David Stanton, 'The Economic Consequences of Divorce and Implications for the Australian Social Protection System', and
2. Wim van Lancker 'Is a Child-Centred Investment Stratgey Bound to Fail? Evidence for the EU27’
This is the first time that joint winners have been awarded, reflecting the quality papers presented at the conference.
Professor Gray has extensive experience in evaluating major government policies and programs having led the Australian Institute of Family Studies evaluation of the 2006 changes to the family law system and having been heavily involved in evaluating the Government’s Stronger Families and Communities Strategy.
