Prof Frank Bongiorno made Member of the Order of Australia

Professor Frank Bongiorno holds a copy of his book 'The Eighties: The Decade That Transformed Australia', 2016 ACT Book of the Year Award and shortlisted for several national awards.

Professor of History and Head of ANU School of History Frank Bongiorno has been made a Member of the Order of Australia in the 2019 Australia Day honours.

A PhD Graduate of the Australian National University, Professor Bongiorno has a distinguished career as an academic, including appointments at UNE, Kings College London and the ANU. He became Head of ANU School of History in 2018. The award winning author of four books, he is a frequent contributor to national media, writing for The Conversation, Inside Story, and appearing on ABC's The Drum. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and the Academy of The Social Sciences in Australia.

Dean of ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences Professor Rae Frances congratulated Professor Bongiorno on the deserved honour, describing him as among the most generous of academics.
