PhD student re-writes history to win award

Christian O'Brien, a PhD student within the School of History, has recently won an annual student essay competition conducted by the Australian Academy of Science and National Museum of Australia.
The winning essay "A brief history of the monsoon" was awarded based on original unpublished research undertaken while Mr O'Brien has been enrolled as a tertiary student.
The winners of this award were chosen by the Academy's National Committee for History and Philosophy of Science. The competition aims to encourage a broader understanding of the history of Australian science.
