Michele Marti is a Furniture Designer/Maker from Oakland Ca, Who studied at California College of the Arts.

Furniture is a cradle for the body, and this interaction between the body and furniture is central to my interest and intentions when sculpting ideations for a new work. My work visually presents my thoughts on exposing the relationship of sexuality, emotions, and life within the furniture. Something incredible happens when creating something new from something old. This fascination with rejuvenation stems from the memory and deterioration that a piece of furniture endures during its lifetime. I see the wear and tear embedded in found furniture as a starting point for creating something new and unique that incorporates the past into the future life of the furniture pieces being created.
