Next ARC Future Fellowship round opens 18 Oct

ARC 2015 Future Fellow winner, Dr Tim Denham, in Papua New Guina
The Australian Research Council has released information about the upcoming Future Fellowship round. The call for proposals will be on 18 October, and the Research Officer will need to finalise the submissions to the ARC by 7 December.
The Future Fellowship is a four-year, full-time salaried fellowship that provides an additional $50,000 per year for project costs. The purpose of the scheme is to ensure recruitment and retention of outstanding mid-career researchers, to build collaborations across both academia and non-academia, to support national research priorities with economic, environmental, social, or cultural benefits to Australia, and to strengthen Australia’s research capacity.
There are two important eligibility hurdles.
- Ordinarily, applicants must have been awarded their PhD on or between 1 March 2002 and 1 March 2012 in order to be eligible, but there are exceptions. If you are interested in applying but your PhD was awarded before 1 March 2002, please have a chat with the CASS Research Office as soon as possible to discuss whether you meet the exemption criteria.
- There is a limit to the number of Future Fellowship proposals that you are eligible to submit. If you have already applied twice for a Future Fellowship since the first round 2009, you are not eligible to apply again.
If you are interested in applying for a Future Fellowship, please contact the CASS Research Office by 7 October: researchoffice.cass@anu.edu.au
