New crop of rural researchers

Research into sustainable rural and regional communities has been the product of a partnership between the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF) and The Australian National University.

The Australian Farming Futures Scholarship is made to promising young researchers undertaking an honours level project which looks at the links between community resilience and profitable, sustainable and competitive industries.

Dr Anthony Hogan, Director of the National Institute of Rural and Regional Australia at ANU said that the intention of these awards is to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence of young scholars to engage with the complex social issues facing rural and regional Australia.
