French day on campus
45 senior secondary school students from the ANU Regional Partnership Schools Program and the Karabar Distance Education Centre recently attended a French study day at the ANU, coordinated by the ANU Student Equity Office.
Dr Peter Brown, Convenor of French, wecomed the students and Alice Million, from the French Embassay, spoke about the opportunities available to those with French as a second language. The purpose of the day was to help students prepare for their upcoming HSC speaking exam and to give them a taste of student life at ANU.
ANU Student Equity Ambassadors with a background in French language helped deliver the program which gave students the chance to really practice their French conversational skills in small groups. The day was of huge value for the students - some of whom study by distance and may be the only student in their entire school studying French. This program will be followed up by a two day immersion program to be held in June on the NSW South Coast.
