Dr Geoffrey Lancaster AM elected Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities

Dr Geoffrey Lancaster AM has been elected an Honorary Fellow of the Australian Academy of the Humanities. 

A former Head of Keyboard at the ANU School of Music, and currently Associate Professor in the Research School of Humanities and the Arts, ANU College of Arts & Social Sciences, Dr Lancaster is among the world's most acclaimed fortepianists. In a career spanning 40 years,  his performance-led research of baroque and classical music, notably the music of Haydn, Mozart and CPE Bach,  has profoundly influenced the development of the historical performance practice movement.  Among his many professional honours and prizes are Gramophone and ARIA awards for some of his 51 published recordings.  He was the first Australian to win a major international keyboard competition, receiving First Prize in the 23rd Festival of Flanders International Fortepiano Competition, Brugge. In 2006, he was Australian of the Year for the Australian Capital Territory.  In 2011 he delivered the inaugural Henry Wood Lecture Recital at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
