Some of Australia and Singapore’s leading scholars of the humanities, arts and social sciences have gathered at The Australian National University (ANU) to showcase their research.

Organisers said the inaugural ANU-Nanyang Technological University (NTU) research symposium, hosted by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS), was designed to boost long-term cooperation between the world-class institutions.

“Some very exciting connections were made over the two days of dialogue, with strong potential around language and linguistics, heritage and community, and technology and culture,” CASS Associate Dean (International), Professor Jacqueline Lo, said.

“I’m sure we will see more clusters emerge as the research cooperation develops.

“I’m very pleased that NTU has offered to host the next joint symposium in Singapore in 2017.”

Professor KK Luke, Associate Dean (Research) at NTU’s College of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, said he and his colleagues were pleased to have established connections with their ANU colleagues.

Professor Luke added he was looking forward to those connections leading to themed conferences, workshops and other collaborations in future.
