Congratulations to Australia Day Honours recipients

Two graduates and one previous staff member from the College have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to the community by the Governor General on the Australia Day Honours List.

This year, the Honours list recognised 690 Australians for the significant difference they have made to their communities.

A former CASS student, Professor Martin Tsamenyi AM, was awarded for his service to maritime and fisheries law in the Asia-Pacific region.

Mrs Sheila Thompson OAM, also a graduate of the College, received her award for service to the community of Canberra as a church organist and musical director.

Professor Stuart Macintyre, a previous member of staff in the College, was recognised for his distinguished service to the social sciences and humanities as a leading academic in the areas of 19th and 20th Century Australian history, particularly through advancing the understanding of social and political life, and as an author, researcher and mentor.
