An Arts student is among four ANU students who've each won $10,000 Westpac Asian Exchange Scholarships to study for a semester in Asia in 2017.
The students are Meredith Li, Kimberley Allen, Daniel Connolly and George Cameron.
Meredith, an Arts and Commerce student, will study for one semester at Shanghai Jiaotong University.
"I cannot wait to experience the life there and come back with great stories to share," Meredith said.
She said she always wanted to study in Asia because of its diverse and fascinating cultures and its growing connections with Australia in economic, political and social aspects.
"It is important for today's Australians to develop a comprehensive understanding of our Asian neighbors.
"Thanks to the Westpac Asian Exchange Scholarship, I will be able to enrich my exchange experience in China with an internship, volunteering activities and exciting cultural exploration trips."
Kimberley, who is undertaking International Security and Asian Studies, said she lalso ooked forward to studying at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China, to perfect her Mandarin.
"The Westpac Scholarship has opened an incredible amount of doors for me to enter, explore and engage with my love of Asia," she said.
International Business student Daniel and George, who studies Commerce and Law, will study at the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong, respectively, next semester.
"The opportunities provided by the Westpac scholarship won't end when I come home - as a member of the Westpac 100 Scholars Network I will be connected with others who share a similar experience and passion for Asia, and will have access to networking and events that will be valuable for years to come." Daniel said.
For his part, George thanked Westpac for this great opportunity to experience Hong Kong from a firsthand perspective.
"Hong Kong is where the action is," George said.
