The Canning Stock Route
The Canning Stock Route: Rock Art and Jukurrpa ARC Linkage Project is documenting the cultural and environmental heritage of the route whilst developing management strategies in collaboration with Indigenous stakeholders.
Over the last decade, Western Desert custodians have been increasingly concerned about the protection and management of Aboriginal sites along the CSR. Non-moderated impacts on both cultural sites (e.g. rock art galleries) and totemic sites (places and landscapes with Jukurrpa - dreaming) have accelerated dramatically in the last ten years with the increase of 4WD and tourism generally along this iconic transect.
This ARC Linkage Project was developed by researchers from the ANU following requests by the Aboriginal people. It brings together major stakeholders and partners and senior researchers. Industry partners are:

- The Department of Indigenous Affairs WA
- The Department of Environment and Conservation WA
