ANU now has over 3,000 wireless access points across the campus as part of a major upgrade of wireless infrastructure.
Karen Hill, Director of Information Technology Services (ITS), said ITS has been upgrading WiFi access within the residences over the Christmas break.
"The latest upgrades focus on personal and common areas within the residences to increase capacity limits and eliminate 'black spots', providing a more reliable and consistent service," she said.
"These additional access points across the campus support an improved learning, teaching, and living experience for students and ANU staff."
The upgrade has also improved the wireless services in many teaching and learning spaces.
Further rollouts are planned at Burgmann and JohnXXIII residences during the first half of 2016.
ITS will investigate the expansion of WiFi services to outdoor spaces over the coming years.
"Work will continue this year with updates to the wireless authentication systems, which will further increase reliability and access for staff and students," Ms Hill said.
"More updates to Wireless services will be carried out as we continue to bridge the connectivity gap, right across campus and into the future."
