ANU announces national scholarship

The most generous philanthropic gift for the benefit of students in Australian history was announced at ANU today.
ANU Alumnus Graham Tuckwell and his wife Louise have generously donated $50 million to fund the new Tuckwell Scholarship, for commencement in 2014.
25 new students per year will be awarded the Tuckwell Scholarship worth $20,000 (increasing with inflation) per annum for up to five years during their undergraduate degree.
The Tuckwell Scholars will be selected from a cohort of school-leavers whose ATAR is 95 or above and who display a rounded set of attributes.
Applications and selection criteria
Applications for the Tuckwell Scholarship open on Monday 4 March 2013.
Scholarships will be awarded based on four criteria:
- academic potential and achievements to date
- other significant achievements to date, of any type
- demonstration of Tuckwell Scholar attributes, and
- a desire to eventually give back to Australia.
