Alumni Morrison still setting the gender agenda

In 2013. as Chief of Army, David Morrison famously declared, "the standard you walk past is the standard you accept." He was speaking on the treatment of women in the Australian Army, and of the need to make the military an inclusive force. "If that does not suit you," he said, "then get out!"
In 2016, David Morrison AO was named Australian of the Year and ANU Alumnus of the Year (BA '79). Now retired from the military, he continues to speak out on issues of gender and equality. In a wide-ranging interview published on Womens' Agenda, Morrison touches on gender inequality, power dynamics, sharing domestic responsibilities, and the personal and communal journeys so many still need to make.
As the Chair of Diversity Australia, Morrison has also recently spoken out on inclusive and alienating language in the workplace.
