Joe Chindamo & Zoe Black: The Goldberg Inventions

The ANU School of Music is thrilled to present Zoe Black and Joe Chindamo performing their music from the album The Goldberg Inventions.

Black & Chindamo are routinely described as edgy and a welcome new and unique voice to Australian Chamber music: their music is inclusive because it is informed by the rigour of classical music and the excitement and urbanity of jazz.

Joe Chindamo is a pianist, composer, arranger who cannot be categorised easily. With 23 CDs to his name, many of them topping charts in Japan, countless world tours and a plethora of awards, he can comfortably take his place amongst the best jazz pianists in the world.

Joe's abilities and musical activities transcend jazz, as is demonstrated by his work with violin virtuoso Zoe Black, with whom he has formed an innovative duo.

Zoë Black is a violinist's violinist, known for her beauty of sound and natural virtuosity. She has performed throughout the world as soloist, chamber musician and as a member of the celebrated Australian Chamber Orchestra, with whom she held the position of Assistant Leader for five years.

The Goldberg Inventions is JS Bach’s original and complete Goldberg variations with a newly composed counterpart for violin.

Joe Chindamo's The Goldberg Inventions brings the living essence of Bach's music into our lives with beauty and inspiration.

There is a rare sensory relationship to Bach's violin music and to hear this insightful performance by Zoë Black, brings another dimension to this repertoire with a newly composed role for the violin”, Rachael Beesley Internationally renowned Australian violinist, director and concertmaster.
