Manrique is the man in charge of guarding what is left from an abandoned salt mine in a desolate spot of the Colombian Caribbean. In this job he has found the excuse to isolate himself from the world he does not care about. However, the extraordinary appearance of a pedigree dog who likes chasing fireflies in the darkness and the unexpected arrival of Valeria, his thirteen year old daughter he did not know about, will give this lonely man an opportunity to get the joy of living back.

About the Director, Roberto Flores Prieto

Graduated from the International Film and Television School of San Antonio de los Baños in Cuba, his recent work as a director includes the feature film Heridas (2008), part of the official selection at the Rio de Janeiro International Film Festival in 2008, and the documentary La Hija de la Luz, awarded the DocTV Colombia 2009 and nominated to the India Catalina Awards at the Cartagena Film Festival. He directed Cazando Luciérnagas (2013) as well as Ruido Rosa (2014), both feature films granted the Colombian Film Fund in 2010 and 2009, respectively.

As a producer, his filmography includes Cerrando Heridas (2009), documentary awarded by the Independent Producers Call from Mincultura–CNTV and Maquillaje para Ciegos (2010), awarded the Portfolio Production Grant of Bogotá’s Cultural Office. In 2011, he produced the short film “Para Español marque Uno” (2011), also awarded the Portfolio Production Grant of Bogotá’s cultural office, and both seasons of the documentary series Arte y Parte.

Currently, Flores is the director of the TV program for children Waldo y los Numerolocos, produced by Señal Colombia Channel and Fundación Universidad del Norte (Barranquilla), and the TV magazine Travelling for Telecaribe. El Paraíso and Tan Lejos Como Puedas are two of his most recent feature films projects in process.

The showing of the film (100 minutes) will be followed by light food and beverages through the kind support of the Embassy of Colombia.

This movie is recommended for viewers 18 years and over.

The Film is in Spanish with English subtitles.
