Book club at SLLL

Our pilot book club at SLLL will give students the opportunity to discuss books published in various languages so that you can venture on to read in your language of study or in English and exchange observations within a plurilingual environment.

Of course, interesting issues regarding translation and cultural perception will have a role in our talks, but mostly, the club is an excuse to have fun the old-fashioned way.

The book club will meet on Thursdays, 23 July - 20 August, 1-2pm.

Kindly RSVP at Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.com.au/e/slll-book-club-anu-tickets-17523906476

The first book in our list will be Dolores Redondo’s The Invisible Guardian (the first book in her Baztán trilogy).

The international bestselling thriller has been translated into 15 languages so far, and has just sold its film copyrights. Plus, great news! The Spanish author will be coming to ANU on August 25, 2015. So our meetings will give us a chance to get ready for Redondo’s visit.

Get the book ASAP and start reading! Pacing ourselves, we’ll discuss about 75-100 pages per meeting/week. Feel free to bring your lunch and we’ll provide the bickies for dessert. But overall, be prepared to make some friends!

Please, RSVP so that we have seats (and bickies) available for everyone. And if you like the experience, and find you can handle reading for fun, we can decide together on a book to discuss the second half of semester!
