The Head of the ANU School of Archaeology and Anthropology, Professor Laurajane Smith, has been selected as the next academic for the ANU-Indiana University’s Faculty Exchange program.
There have been three faculty exchanges between the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences and the IU College of Arts and Sciences since 2015, involving Simon Cottrell from the School of Art, Robert Ackland (Sociology), and Douglas Craig (History).
Professor Smith will visit IU from 29 October to 29 November 2016, and hold seminars and master classes in museum and heritage studies to promote the research being done in the ANU Centre for Heritage and Museum Studies.
This research also feeds into the ANU Master of Museum and Heritage Studies and into the ANU double degree that is currently being developed with IU, Professor Jacqueline Lo, CASS Associate Dean (International) said.
Professor Smith will also take the opportunity to work with colleagues in Arts Administration and the Department of Anthropology to develop her current book project, and look for possibilities for further collaboration between ANU and IU.
IU President, Professor Michael McRobbie AO (PhD Philosophy ’79, HonLittD ’10), is an ANU alumnus who since his appointment in 2007 has worked to build and maintain links between the two institutions.
