ANU is immensely proud of its graduates. The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) celebrates the achievements of its Alumni and thanks them for all they have done for the ANU, Australia and the world.

The 2016 recipients were announced and celebrated at the ANU Alumni Awards Gala Dinner at the Old Parliament House on Saturday 19 March 2016.

Nominations for the 2017 ANU Alumni Awards will open in August 2016.

Categories and eligibility

Alumnus of the Year

  • This is the most prestigious honour awarded by the University to an alumnus
  • Nominees must be graduates of ANU living in Australia or internationally
  • This includes graduates who are current or former staff of the University

 

Alumnus of the Year - Philanthropy

  • Recognises alumni who are giving financially or through their time and expertise to make a significant impact in their community or to the University
  • Nominees must be graduates of ANU living in Australia or internationally
  • This includes graduates who are current or former staff of the University

 

Alumnus of the Year - Innovation & Entrepreneurship 

  • Recognises alumni who have identified innovative solutions for new and existing markets
  • Nominees must be graduates of ANU living in Australia or internationally
  • This includes graduates who are current or former staff of the University
  • Multiple nominees can be submitted under one nomination in the case of alumni working in a start-up together

 

Alumnus of the Year - Research or Academia

  • Recognises alumni whose research is making a real impact in their community or to the world
  • Nominees must be graduates of ANU living in Australia or internationally
  • This includes graduates who are current or former staff of the University

 

International Alumnus of the Year

  • Nominees must be graduates of ANU who were enrolled as an internationally student of ANU and are currently living internationally

 

Young Alumnus of the Year

  • Nominees must be graduates of ANU living in Australia or internationally
  • Nominees must be 34 years of age or younger (born in 1981 or later)

 

Student of the Year

  • Nominees must be current full-time student (undergraduate, postgraduate, domestic or international) or any discipline at ANU
  • Nominees must have been enrolled for at least two semesters
  • Nominees can have graduated in July 2015 or be eligible to graduate in December 2015

 

Conditions of nomination

  • Alumni can only be nominated in one award category in the same year
  • The selection panel reserves the right to relocate nominations between categories based on the field of nominees
  • Nomination forms and supporting documentation must be complete and submitted in English
  • Previously nominated alumni who were unsuccessful in winning an award may be re-nominated
  • Award recipients and nominees may be acknowledged in media publications
  • Please note that only successful nominators and nominees will be informed of the outcome in December 2015
