Intan Hapsari
“I am motivated by the current challenges that are present in my country, as well as my goals for the days to come.”
For many students, their motivation to study comes from a deep question about their place in the world and how they can contribute. That’s certainly true of Intan Hapsari, an Indonesian graduate in economics completing the Master of Political Science at ANU.
“I have always questioned, how can I contribute to society and my nation?” says Intan. “I am motivated by the current challenges that are present in my country, as well as my goals for the days to come.”
The Master of Political Science at ANU provides in depth knowledge and training in political science research methods, while offering students an amazing array of contemporary research topics to engage with.
“Pursuing the Master of Political Science at ANU has been my dream since I was undertaking my undergraduate degree. It has always been my purpose to be able to contribute through the field I am passionate about, which is political science.” Intan says. “I am focusing my studies on Indonesian Politics and political economy, as my undergraduate background was economics which I also enjoyed learning.”
She’s pursuing her postgraduate degree at a time of unique challenges in the world. With the COVID-19 pandemic closing borders, she has so far completed work remotely. As borders reopen, she is looking forward to being able to come to Canberra, to explore things she hasn’t yet being able to and to meet people she can learn from further. Her experience studying remotely though has been largely positive.
“Although being conducted online so far, my time studying Master of Political Science at ANU has been delightful,” Intan says. “Jill as the head of the program and the whole team was indeed very helpful and open. I am also very lucky to be able to learn from great lecturers whom I admire for their work and research even before I got into ANU. I am very grateful for the opportunity of pursuing Master of Political Science at ANU.”
