Ariel

The best thing about my overseas experience was absolutely everything! There was not a single negative to be taken from my trip and it was the best year of my life thus far.

I chose to study International Relations because I love languages and felt that the IR would bring everything together in a nice package.  My degree provides me with a well rounded framework and multi-dimensional outlook.

I applied for the Ethel Tory Language Scholarship in order to further my language studies, in particular my translation and interpreting studies.  For my exchange I studied in Madrid, Spain.

The insight and wealth of knowledge acquired from teachers also working in their respective fields of translation/interpreting was invaluable.  I received excellent language exposure and will forever treasure the lifelong friendships made and the travel experiences shared.

My advice to prospective students considering applying for the Ethel Tory Language Scholarship is - do it!  You have nothing to lose and everthing to gain.  Furthermore, the grant money and its considered use will go a long way.  It can only better enable you to unlock and discover what is out there, be it through your personal endeavours and application , or travel experiences and memory-making overseas.

The best thing about my overseas experience was absolutely everything!  There was not a single negative to be taken from my trip and it was the best year of my life thus far.  I firmly believe you should LIVE and LOVE languages!  I am so grateful for everybody involved in the scholarship process for offering students with this amazing opportunity.
