International Symposium on Child Support

Date: Monday 28 - Wednesday 30 October
Venue: Springbank Room, Crawford School of Public Policy, ANU

CASS is the major sponsor of an international child support symposium being held at The Australian National University on 28–30 October 2013. The symposium is part of a large Australian Research Council (ARC)-funded Linkage Project that is investigating the impacts of major child support reforms in Australia between 2006 and 2008.

Two of the world’s leading child support researchers, Professor Daniel Meyer (USA) and Dr Christine Skinner (UK), will be speaking at the symposium, along with a small group of Australia’s leading researchers and practitioners.

The symposium aims to: promote dialogue between international and national experts on child support, feature the best available evidence on the impacts of the child support changes in Australia and overseas, consider current and future challenges for child support policy, research and service delivery, and explore ideas for improving the Australian child support system.

Additional support for the symposium has been provided by the ARC, and the Centre for Applied Social Research at RMIT University. Support has also been provided by the Crawford School of Public Policy.
