Master of History (Online)
Studying history at ANU, you can draw upon our prize-winning teaching and research in Australian, North American, ancient, early modern and modern European, and British history, as well as the expertise of our leading centres for Indigenous history, environmental history, and biography.
The master’s degree provides the theoretical grounding and practical skills you need for advanced study in history, plus the opportunity to tailor a program to your interests. If you are a secondary school teacher, you can focus on areas aligned with the national curriculum for history.
Turn your passion for history into a new career. Study online with ANU and gain practical skills alongside a globally respected qualification. The Master of History Online (MHITO) degree is distinct from the face-to-face Master of History program. Delivered fully online for maximum flexibility, it shares many courses with the on-campus program, ensuring the same academic quality and depth. This program develops highly transferable skills in writing, research, and presentation, and offers a pathway to higher degrees by research.
The Master of History Online is delivered entirely online and is available to domestic students, and international students studying offshore. As this program is delivered by distance learning, it is not CRICOS registered and cannot be used as the basis for an Australian student visa application.
Our scholarship programs are designed to support students from diverse backgrounds and abilities, and we automatically consider applicants for some of them upon application.
