ANU offers a safe and inclusive environment for students to learn and grow.

For Ting Wang, studying at Australia’s leading university means working with academics who are leading experts in their fields, meeting some of the brightest minds from all over the world, challenging ideas and embracing different perspectives.

“University is not just about getting a degree, but also about your experiences of university life. ANU offers students a safe and inclusive environment to learn and grow. The more things you try, the more doors will open for you,” Ting says.

Ting is a fifth-year student at the University and has completed her Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts Honour and is now pursuing a Master’s Degree in Digital Humanities and Public Culture. She is the student ambassador for ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) as well.

ANU helped her discover her passion and interest -  user experience design. “I feel lucky to have real industry experience in an IT company and be able to work as a tutor for a computer science course COMP3900 Human-Computer Interaction at ANU,” Ting says.

She says that one of the best resources at ANU is the members of the community. “Interact with lecturers, tutors, peers and staff members as you will have something new to learn. Sometimes, conversations can lead to more opportunities. Additionally, you are honing your communication and interpersonal skills which are important while applying for a job,” she adds.

The Senior Resident at Fenner Hall says that one of the best experiences of university life is living on campus.

“ANU accommodations offer the comfort and support that will make you feel at home. You’ll make lifelong friends and meet other like-minded individuals from all over the world,” Ting says.

“You’ll be living in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. The senior residents, community coordinators, wellbeing coordinators and the head of the residential hall will help make the transition from home to your new accommodation easier so you can focus on working towards academic success.”

ANU has a range of transformational opportunities for students who can take part in international student exchange programs and internships. It offers a wide range of scholarships to choose and apply.

“Australian National Internships Program (ANIP) presents exciting opportunities to connect students and institutions and government departments/institutions. ANU has partnerships with a number of universities around the world,” says Ting.

The ANU student also recommends making use of the resources available for students on the ANU campus including health support, careers resources and advice, and student associations for both undergraduate and postgraduate students.
