My favourite thing about studying at ANU is the diversity. ANU is a very friendly, multicultural and progressive environment.

While it was not a decision I took lightly, already living in Canberra and having a deep interest in politics, deciding to study at the ANU was relatively easy. The outstanding reputation of the ANU also contributed to my final decision. I originally started with a single degree in Policy Studies. I choose this undergraduate program as it reflected my interests and being new, aligned well to contemporary national and global priorities. Inspired by my initial study, I wanted to challenge myself and broaden my knowledge in a range of areas, as such I picked up a second degree in Commerce through the flexible double degree program.

The learning experience at ANU is exceptional and more often than not ANU lecturers are leading experts on the subjects they teach. My favourite thing about studying at ANU is the diversity. ANU is a very friendly, multicultural and progressive environment. The courses offered are extensive, relevant and interesting. The campus is just big enough that there is always more to discover yet still feel a real sense of pride and community.

The three main pieces of advice I would give to someone starting or considering studying at ANU are:

  1. People at ANU are really helpful, friendly, and kind. Friendships and academic relationships only improve the ANU experience.
  2. ANU is extremely flexible which is great because it’s so important for university students to be open to being flexible too.
  3. It is important to take good care of yourself, and at ANU help is available if you ever need it. Finding a balance between academic success, an active social life, leading a healthy lifestyle, work and family commitments is difficult but very achievable with the necessary support.

When not procrastinating, I spend my spare time with friends, go to the ANU gym, pursue internships and work on my own little creative projects. I’m still deciding what to do when I finish my degree, which I think is a wonderful thing. An ANU degree provides endless possibilities and prepares you for any adventure. Whatever I do, I want to be happy and continuously learning.
