Rupert

One of the most talented guitarists of his generation, Australian born Rupert Boyd is forging a career as an international performing artist. He has performed throughout the United States, Spain, Italy, France and Australia.  He has won numerous prizes and is the recipient of the Andrés Segovia Award from the Manhattan School of Music.

Rupert Boyd has performed at some of New York's most prestigious classical music venues including the 92nd Street Y, Bargemusic, The New York City Classical Guitar Society, and The Monkey. In addition to winning the Andrés Segovia award from the Manhattan School of Music, Rupert was a winner of the Lillian Fuchs Chamber Music Competition and winner of the Eisenberg-Fried Concerto Competition, which resulted in a performance of Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez with orchestra, conducted by Lawrence Leighton Smith.

Rupert Boyd's debut solo recording Valses Poéticos was released in June 2008. A review in the UK based magazine Classical Guitar described the CD as follows: "The performances that Boyd gives here are first-rate . . . This is a fine CD from a player who deserves to be heard." The CD has also been frequently broadcast in Australia on ABC Classic FM.

Following graduation from the ANU School of Music, Rupert Boyd went to the United States where he completed a Master of Music degree at the Manhattan School of Music and an Artist Diploma degree on full scholarship at the Yale University School of Music. He has also performed in public masterclasses for Pepe Romero, Manuel Barrueco, Eliot Fisk, David Russell, Maximo Diego Pujol, Sharon Isbin, Remi Boucher and Pavel Steidl.
