After completing a Medical Sciences degree as an Undergraduate, I wanted to engage in cross-disciplinary study to broaden my perspective and understanding, not only about health related fields, but also about different countries and communities.  I was very excited when I learnt that the Master of Studies allows students to tailor a degree that could encompass a variety of subjects.  I was able to pick courses from a range of subject areas including Public Health and Medical Anthropology and Science. 

I chose ANU because it is a highly regarded University world over.  As well as being a fantastic learning environment, ANU has such a diverse community that is dynamic and multicultural.  It is a great place to learn new skills, participate in University life, and make friends. 

Completing a Masters Degree was a uniquely satisfying experience.  My analytical skills were put to the test and it was amazing to learn the many ways of approaching different and difficult situtations, while taking into account the opinions and beliefs of others. 

Most of the courses in Medical Anthropology and Public Health have a very strong focus on student discussions and I learnt a lot from my peers and lecturers through this way of learning.  Presentations were also a huge part of my degree and gave me an opportunity to hone my public speaking skills.

These skills are vital when entering the work-force and I believe my degree has given me the knowledge depth and skill set to be a major contributor in the Health Sector. 

As an ANU student I was able to meet and learn from various distinguised academics, from Australia and other parts of the World, that have given me a new outlook for the future and taught me valuable skills.  I have made a lot of great friends at ANU and had a fantastic University experience.
