Elefteria Vlavianos was the winner of the inaugural Embassy of Spain Travelling Scholarship in the Emerging Artist Support Scheme. Elefteria was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in South Africa.  She had an interrupted schooling in South Africa and wasn’t able to complete high school.  However, after immigrating to Australia she gained a BA from the University of Adelaide.  While she was studying at University she often painted in her spare time.  This hobby became her passion and she decided to attend ANU and undertake the Visual Arts program from the School of Art. Elefteria graduated with first class honours and has since continued to refine and practice her art. Her rich cultural background inspires her work as she investigates the themes of memory, loss, and nostalgia. As a result, Elefteria has had several successful solo exhibitions.
