Professor Jon Altman elected to Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Society of New Zealand

The College of Arts and Social Sciences is pleased to announce that Professor Jon Altman has recently been elected to Honorary Fellowship of the Royal Society of New Zealand. 

Professor Altman's election to Honorary Fellow was announced at the Academy of the Royal Society of New Zealand, 47th Fellows' Annual General Meeting in Wellington on Wednesday 17 October 2012.

Professor Altman is an ARC Australian Professorial Fellow at the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research (CAEPR). He has a disciplinary background in economics and anthropology and he was the foundation director of CAEPR from April 1990–April 2010. Professor Altman's research interests include: Sustainable economic development and associated policy issues for Indigenous Australia; the hybrid economy framework; the economic engagement of Indigenous people with the Australian and global economies.

Honorary Fellowships is an honour conferred for distinction in research, or for the advancement in science, technology or the humanities and is awarded to fellows from overseas institutions. Honorary Fellowships aim to encourage liaison between scientists from different nations and promote communication and networking.
