Humanities and Social Sciences disciplines ranked number one in Australia

The College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) has again excelled in the latest round of QS World University rankings with six CASS disciplines ranked number one in Australia within the areas of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Sociology, Philosophy, Politics and International Studies, History, Modern Languages, and Linguistics are all ranked number one in Australia in QS World Rankings for Top Universities.
Modern Languages has retained the number one ranking in Australia for 2014, and is up two places in world rankings to 14th in the world.
Also in terms of world rankings, Politics and International Studies, which again retained the top Australian ranking, is ranked 7th in the world.
Professor Toni Makkai, Dean of the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences says the latest rankings continue to affirm the University's strength and the College’s commitment to excellence in the teaching in arts, humanities and social sciences.
"The College is strongly committed to research led education while ensuring a strong grounding in the theory and method of the core humanities and social science disciplines," she says.
"These rankings indicate that the research being conducted by our scholars is recognised globally as being in the same league as other top ten Universities such as Harvard, Yale, Oxford, and Cambridge."
