Dr Thomas' essay is of the highest Calibre

The 2013 Calibre Prize for an Outstanding Essay has been awarded to Dr Martin Thomas, Australian Research Council Future Fellow in The Australian National University’s School of History.
Because it’s Your Country: Bringing Back the Bones to West Arnhem Land, was chosen for the prize from a field of 150 by Australian Book Review (ABR) writer and current ABR chair Morag Fraser OAM and ABR editor Peter Rose.
A cultural historian and broadcaster, Dr Thomas tells the story of the theft of human remains from West Arnhem Land in 1948 and the emotional and hard-fought battle to return them home in 2010, where a ceremonial burial took place in 2011.
