Concert of Bach's St John's Passion

The Passion of Christ According to St John is one of Bach’s choral masterpieces and is perhaps the most often performed and best loved of his works. On Maundy Thursday 5 April in Canberra’s Lllewellyn Hall, a new version in English will be given its world premiere in a translation by ANU graduate Christopher Steele.
UK based tenor, Steele, will also sing the main role of the Evangelist with one of Canberra’s leading a cappella choirs,The Oriana Chorale in a performance conducted by David Mackay, with soloists from the ANU School of Music and orchestra led by Barbara Jane Gilby.
Christopher Steele had a single studies scholarship at the School of Music while studying science/law at ANU, before winning a scholarship to the The Royal College of Music and then the National Opera Studio in London.
