College finalist announced for the Lion's Oratory Competition

Daniel McKay, a current Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Laws student, has been selected to compete in the 18th Annual Lion's Oratory Competition.

At the competition, which encourages students from all of the ANU Colleges to read widely on subjects dealing with human values, Daniel will speak about 'Love and truth in the age of concrete: or why ANU needs gothic arches'.

Students will be given eight minutes to convince the judging panel that they are deserving of the prizes and $3,000 cash, or $400 People's Choice Award.

According to Lion's, the competition aims to cultivate in students the need for the great human values of truth, righteousness, peace, love and non-violence – the core of all major religions.

The final will be held at 6pm on Wednesday 5 September at the Finkel Theatre, The John Curtin School of Medical Research, Garran Road, ANU.
