CASS achieves outstanding ERA results

The College has received an outstanding result in the Commonwealth Government’s major research quality measure - the Excellence in Research for Australia initiative (ERA).
These results reinforce the College’s standing as the leading research institution in Australia across Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS).
The College has made significant contributions the University’s performance across a range of HASS disciplines and ANU was the only university to receive the top ranking in Studies in Human Society.
At the top ranking of 5 College staff made contributions to Political Science, Archaeology, Historical Studies, Linguistics, Criminology, Anthropology, and Philosophy, highlighting the unwavering commitment of CASS academics to excellence in research.
Research excellence was also evident in staff contributions to achieving an ERA ranking of 4 in Demography, Sociology, Visual arts and crafts, Language studies and Literary studies.
College Dean, Professor Toni Makkai is thrilled with this result. “Once again the College’s strengths in research have been recognised on a national level, with the world class standard of our academics shining through,” she said.
“These results cap off an outstanding year for our College and I am very proud of the work of our academic and professional staff in increasing the profile of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences at ANU on a national and international stage”.
These latest results top off a stellar year for the College including top 20 world rankings in Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences in both the Times Higher Education World University Rankings and QS World University Rankings.
