Australia and Europe in conversation

To acknowledge the appointment of the first Australian Ambassador to the European Union 50 years ago Australia and Europe in conversation: 50 years of EU-Australia relations was launched yesterday.

Every month this year Ambassadors and High Commissioners from EU member states will join Australian Ambassadors to Europe in discussion about their European country and its involvement in the EU, their country's current position and how the country relates with Australia.

Mr Gerhard Sabathil, Director for the North East Asia and the Pacific in the EU’s External Action Service launched the events series. H.E. Mrs Susanne Wagner Hoffmann Shine, Ambassador of Denmark, H.E. Mr Andrzej Jaroszynski, Ambassador of Poland and H.E. Mr David Daly, Ambassador of the EU, together with Mr Don Kenyon, Australia’s Ambassador to the EU from 1997-2000 also shared their thoughts on this significant milestone, with the conversation moderated by Mr Paul Barclay from ABC Radio National.
