ANUCES wins European Commission grant

Professor Jacquie Lo, Director of the ANU Centre for European Studies.
The ANU Centre for European Studies (ANUCES) has received a major grant from the European Commission for “developing the network of EU Centres in Australia and New Zealand”.
The grant is worth approximately A$1 million, in addition to co-funding by ANU, and the partner and associate colleges of ANUCES.
The funding will facilitate co-operation between ANUCES and several other EU Centres in the Australian and New Zealand region, as well as with partners in the academic, business, government and cultural sectors, on EU and European issues.
Professor Adam Graycar, Director of the Research School of Social Sciences says the grant “highlights the global standing of ANU and the quality of our work.”
“It is especially a tribute to Professor Jacquie Lo who leads the ANU Centre for European Studies with vision and distinction, and demonstrates that hard work built onto a solid foundation pays off handsomely.”
“We congratulate her and ANUCES for the great effort they have made, and all look forward to cutting edge outcomes.”
The Centre plans to consolidate its partnerships with external organisations including the Australia and New Zealand School of Government, the Australian Institute of International Affairs, the European Australian Business Council, the National Gallery of Australia, ABC Radio National and the Street Theatre.
The EU Centre initiative is part of the European Union’s public diplomacy strategy, aimed at industrialised countries.
