Introduction
Dr Bill Fogarty is currently a Senior Research Fellow at both the National Centre for Indigenous Studies and the Centre for Aboriginal Economic Policy Research at the ANU. Bill has a PhD from CAEPR at The Australian National University, on the topic Learning Through Country: Competing Knowledge Systems and Place Based Pedagogy, and a Masters in Applied Anthropology and Participatory Development (MAAPD) from the ANU College of Arts and Social Sciences.
 

Biography
Dr Fogarty  has a wealth of experience working on the development of Indigenous education programs, health discourse, Indigenous cultural and natural Resource management   Indigenous sport and Indigenous development policy across Australia.  Dr Fogarty has lived, worked and researched in remote Indigenous communities for over twenty years and has conducted numerous research projects, consultancies and evaluations on various forms of development throughout Australia.   He is currently engaged in a number of high level research engagements across Australia including as a Chief Investigator on the Australian Research Council grant ‘Deficit Discourse and Indigenous education.’ He is also the co-chair of the North Australian Research Committee. 
Scholarly interests
Bill has a particular interest in the relationship between Indigenous and Western knowledge, discourse and the development of sustainable education and employment pathways in remote communities, as well as the role of education and knowledge in society more generally.
