Eight alumni of the ANU School of Art and Design feature in the Design Canberra opening party and auction.
The design auction party will celebrate the best of Canberra design and will launch the festival with an opening weekend party. Music, food, and local wines, local brews and spirits, hosted at the iconic Monaro Mall, will create an exciting and vibrant atmosphere for the main event.
Limited edition and one-off pieces from Canberra’s leading designers will be displayed on the night, highlighted by an experimental lighting design installation by Matt Adey of House of Vnholy (Dark Mofo).
Design lovers will get the chance to purchase a piece of contemporary Canberra design with the festival’s second annual design auction. Artworks by established and emerging Canberra designers, artists and makers will be auctioned via online bidding, creating a unique opportunity for collectors from all over the world to own a piece designed and created by one of Canberra’s most exciting designers.Phoebe Porter is an alumna of the ANU School of Art and Design, holding a Bachelor of Visual Arts majoring in Gold and Silversmithing, with First Class Honours.
Canberra based silversmith Alison Jackson graduated from the ANU School of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Arts (Visual) majoring in Gold and Silversmithing.
Zoe Brand earned her Bachelor of Visual Arts with First Class Honours from ANU in 2015. She developed Design Canberra’s visual identity for their 2017 festival.
Glass artist Madisyn Zabel graduated from the ANU School of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Visual Arts with First Class Honours, majoring in glass.
Chelsea Lemon holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) from ANU, where she majored in Furniture Design. She is the Design Canberra 2018 Designer-in-Residence.
Elliot Bastianon completed a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Hons) majoring in Furniture and a Bachelor of Arts at the ANU. He is the Founder and Director of Six Wiluna and Co-founder and Designer of Furnished Forever.
Peter Bollington studied the Bachelor of Design Arts at the ANU School of Art and Design and majored in Furniture.
Richilde Flavell holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts from ANU, where she majored in Ceramics.
