ANU School of Art Textile Symposium

The ANU School of Art Textile symposium is held in conjunction with Group Exchange: 2nd Tamworth Textile Triennial at Craft ACT: Canberra Craft & Design Centre.

Group Exchange: 2nd Tamworth Textile Triennial is an exhibition of works created by 22 artists and groups from across Australia. Curator Cecilia Heffer’s primary focus for this exhibition is to promote excellence and diversity whilst looking at what the collaborative process can bring to the artist’s practice. The works engage with a variety of themes and ideas, and present the viewer with an overview of the exciting direction in which Australian textiles are heading.

As part of ANU Textile Week and in conjunction with Group Exchange at Craft ACT, ANU is hosting a Textile Symposium that will present a series of artist talks whose aim is to open a dialogue around new ways of experiencing, thinking and extending textile practice. Artists will present their conceptual approach and process behind their work to a guest panel of guest curators. What will ensue aims to create a lively debate around interdisciplinary thinking in relation to future textile practice.
