Key words — Gillian Russell on Romanticism

Professor Gillian Russell reflects on the history and current configuration of the category of 'Romanticism' in literary studies. She explores Romanticism's foundational status within English literature in the academy with reference to some recent debates, Romanticism's role in the Occupy movement, and in Michael Winterbottom's The Trip, considering what these might indicate about the current state of Romanticism/English literature and its possible future.

Professor Russell is an Australian Research Council Professorial Fellow in the School of Cultural Inquiry, CASS. Her most recent book is The Playbill and Its People: Australia's Earliest Printed Document (2011).
