Study a Flexible Double Master Degree in Arts and Social Sciences
The Flexible Double Master Degree provides enormous flexibility through being able to combine any two degrees available in the program for which the entry requirements are met and, by cross counting of electives, completing two degrees in one year less than completing the degrees separately. For students who are eligible for credit for previous degrees or work experience, the double degree may require as little as two years.
Step 1: Self-assessment for potential credit available (using this page)
Step 2: Apply for the Flexible Double Masters program through UAC (code 830055). Music (Performance and Composition) and Visual and Digital Art have additional entry requirements.
Step 3: Accept and choose the degree plans (via web form) for the two Master degrees you would like to combine
Step 4: Credit Assessment by the CASS Student Office
Step 5: Enrolment
To help you understand the amount of credit you may be eligible for, please refer to the below scenarios based on three typical undergraduate degree types. A listing of all cognate disciplines for each degree is also available to help you determine if your undergraduate study is in a cognate or related field.
Scenario 1—Single Degree
If you have a single Bachelor degree with a 65% average in a cognate area, you may be eligible for 24 units of credit towards the relevant Master degree. Note credit cannot be counted towards both degrees.
Scenario 2 – Single Bachelor Degree with Honours
If you have a single Bachelor degree with Honours (65% and above) in a cognate area, you may be eligible for 48 units of credit towards the relevant Master degree. Note credit cannot be counted towards both degrees.
Scenario 3—Double Bachelor Degree
You may be eligible for 48 units of credit. For example, if you have a Bachelor of Arts (History Major) with a 65% average and a Bachelor of Classical Studies with a 65% average, you would be eligible for 24 units towards a Master of History and Master of Classical Studies respectively.
